From FreeMediaOnline.org
At FreeMediaOnline.org we are concerned that there are still too many nations where independent reporting is banned or restricted. Censorship and hate propaganda continue to stand in the way of many societies wanting to break out of the cycle of dictatorial rule, violence, and poverty.
FreeMediaOnline.org is committed to helping journalists in media-at-risk-countries. Using innovative information sharing strategies, we work with independent journalists who battle against censorship, disinformation, and corruption. Our goal is to create a media environment supporting greater freedom, understanding, and tolerance.
FreeMediaOnline.org will serve information needs of media professionals and news consumers who share our goal of transforming societies through the power of free media. We will report how governments, nonprofit organizations, the web-based media, and the international broadcasting community are responding to political and technological challenges in promoting free flow of information worldwide.
While there has been progress, one-way communication and single-technology program delivery methods characteristic of the Cold War are only slowly being replaced with new solutions that are more appropriate for protecting and promoting media freedom in the 21st century. We hope that our reporting and independent analysis will advance this process and help build links between journalists and broadcasters who share our vision.
FreeMediaOnline.org will serve as a forum for information sharing between journalists and news consumers from different cultures, regions, and countries. We will publish the work of banned and censored journalists and will support them in their struggle for freedom. We will work to secure for them greater access to free and reliable information.
We need your help to continue our information sharing programs in defense of free media. Buidling and maintaining our web site requires money and support of many people. We hope many of our site users will decide to make a donation, contribute an article, or volunteer their expertise.
